Our Tree For a Tree Special
Ash Tree Removal
Chances are if you have not treated your Ash Tree for EAB yet and you live in Dane County, your tree sadly will have to be removed. Which is why we are looking to turn a sad situation into a happy one, with our tree for a tree initiative. For every ash tree we remove, we will be planting a sapling (baby tree 6 to 12 inches tall) in its place.
EAB Signs and Symptoms
It is important to look for at least two signs or symptoms when trying to figure out if EAB is in your ash tree, because some symptoms can look like those caused by other pests and diseases.
Symptoms are the characteristics expressed by an infested tree, such as crown die-back and epicormic sprouting. are the characteristics expressed by an infested tree, such as crown die-back and epicormic sprouting. Signs are the physical evidence of the pest or disease, including larval galleries, exit holes and all life stages of the insect.
However, we do not recommend self-evaluating your tree and to please consult with an ISA Certified Arborist (we offer onsite proposals) to confirm your suspicions.
If EAB is confirmed, be sure to discuss all your options with your arborist. Treatments may be an option, but unlikely if you live in Dane County. If removal is recommended, you will qualify for our Tree for Tree promotion. Choose from 5 Wisconsin Native Trees to plant (Red Bud, Bur Oak, Red Maple, White Fir, and White Pine).
Discuss this with your Arborist as to which trees will do best on your property and fit your future needs. They will also leave you with our preparation kit, which will include watering guidelines, a flag to mark your preferred planting spot and some other Plant Health Care flyers to help you keep your trees healthy. We offer to plant the tree for you at a pre-determined date or you can do it as a family activity yourselves, “the choice is yours”.
Lastly, we offer a protection kit ($10) for the defense of your new baby tree against rabbits and other animals. If you don’t want the tree you can donate it to our annual Arbor Day Tree Planting event and pay it forward to the Dane County Community.
