Riparian Species:
Riparian Species – This group of trees is made up of species that live in the floodplains of rivers and streams around the world. They are native to an environment that periodically changes the soil level due to flood waters adding soil to the area or taking it away. These grade changes adversely impact trees and the riparian species have adapted to grade changes by developing the ability to grow new roots out of trunk tissue in order to survive. This unique ability to form new roots at the new soil level has provided the riparian species an advantage in the urban environment where people frequently change the root zone of the tree through grade changes and other activities that change the water and oxygen in the root zone of trees. The take home message is riparian trees are adapted to changing root environments and that allows them to be successful in urban areas where trees from more static root environments may struggle. We consider the riparian species to be tough and adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions from wet to dry in most cases. They definitely share a high tolerance for wet feet and that is why we typically use them in the wetter areas of the site as upland species prefer a more well drained home for their primary root system. Riparian species also need more full sunlight to allow for a symmetrical canopy to develop.

Ornamental Species:
The ornamental tree species are grouped based on their smaller stature and in most cases their flower color as a primary attribute. We like to speak in terms of the “Parade of Color” that this group of trees can provide in the spring and early summer. The parade of color begins each spring with the Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry flowering first before the leaves come out. This tree is on the list for next year and each of our locations have received some this year for specific projects. Next in the parade of color are the flowering crabapples, pears, and hawthorns. These trees hit in mid to late May depending on your location. The clean-up batter for the parade of color is the Japanese Tree Lilac that flowers in early to mid-June each summer. In most cases we can provide six to eight weeks of color while also providing diversity where people tended to get flowering trees that were the same variety in the past. With few exceptions, these flowering ornamentals require full sun to perform well. That means to fully flower each year they need full sun and that also equates to a full canopy of leaves. The density of the leaves impacts a major use of these trees as they provide great screening between properties during the outdoor season. We use these all of the time to screen property lines and the view into adjoining homes along with blocking roads and traffic areas. Many people think evergreens are the only way to block or screen a property. We use them together in some situations where the ornamentals provide immediate screening and the evergreens planted alternately behind the ornamentals fill in the gaps over a longer period of time. Remember our group of ornamentals prefer full sun at least part of the day. They also do not like wet feet and they also do not like real dry sites. If it is dry then an expanded mulch area is the key to long term success. Shade loving perennials are a great way to soften the look of too much mulch and they are built to live with trees.

Upland Species:
The upland species are from ecosystems where they are higher than the flood plain and can range all the way to the top of ridges and hills. What this means is they are not good at dealing with changes to their root environment like their relatives in the riparian zone. These trees have a more static root zone and therefore they struggle with grade changes and rapid changes in soil moisture. They are also more adapted to growing in partial or full shade. The riparian and prairie tree species tend to need full sun to perform well. If they are in partial or full shade they can develop asymmetrical canopies as they search for sunlight. The upland species are intermediate to climax in their position within the forest. This means they come after the pioneer species like poplar and jack pine that need full sun. The intermediate species come in behind the pioneers to take over and they can fight through partial to full shade as they kill off the pioneer species. The climax species are the ones that can grow in full shade during their juvenile years then they outgrow the intermediates to take over the site. Great examples of this in Wisconsin are sugar maple and white pine. Both can spend decades in the shade where they develop symmetrical canopies then they finally get taller than the intermediate trees and conquer the site. White pine and sugar maple are not into diversity as they dominate a site in the forest with nearly one hundred percent of the area made up of one or two types of trees.

This is a permanent position starting at 40-45 hours per week. Pay is determined by experience and abilities. We offer paid vacation, company match retirement, health insurance, paid bonuses for obtaining T.C.I.A credentials, annual equipment allowance, and a formal safety program.
You will need to have a current driver license and have obtained your arborist certification from the International Society of Arboriculture to apply.

♦ Only the following material is accepted at this site, no exceptions. All loads must be dumped in their designated pile. Anything other than the following will be removed at the violators expense and dumping privileges may be revoked.

♦ All prices are subject to change and you will be notified via email or phone call
♦ Every load brought to the site will need to have a load ticket filled out. 1 copy is for the driver and leave 3 in the scale box. Fill out the form completely. Failure to leave completed tickets behind will jeopardize your dumping privileges.
♦ When entering Mandt Sandfill all speed limits and Mandt’s rules to be on their property will be obeyed and only drive to the Log Gone It site. Interfering with Mandt’s operation can have your dumping privileges revoked.
♦ You will be invoiced weekly and sales tax applies to this service.
♦ Once you enter Mandt sandfill and Log Gone It you will be on camera.
♦ We will have the most current price list and any special dumping instructions posted in the Green Log Gone it shack.
♦ Each contractor will provide Log Gone It with a current certificate of insurance with 1,000,000.00 general liability coverage. Log Gone It LLC must be listed as additionally insured.
♦ Our hours of operation are from 7 am – 4:30 pm Mon-Friday. NO EXCEPTIONS
♦ All contractors agree to follow the dumping instructions attached to this contract.

♦ If you do not have a credit card on file with Log Gone It then an additional 5% processing fee will be added to your invoice to process checks. I signed credit applications still must be signed.
